The CORE Collection ~ A Deeper Look
First of all, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your incredible support for my new design system. It’s been well received but I think there is a bit of confusion about the system, specifically the costs of the CORE patterns and the MODs.
As I’ve written in my previous post, I’ve created the first CORE pattern of several more to come. And I just released the 3rd and 4th MODs for this pattern yesterday. At first glance, $20 for a “basic” pattern does seem like a lot, especially when you can purchase a sweater pattern on Ravelry anywhere from $6 to $14. Most of my individual patterns sell for $12. But CORE 1 isn’t really a “basic” design. I designed it to be a timeless, modern sweater, that you can modify to fit YOU how you like, and to use it as a template to create an unlimited amount of sweaters using the MODs and different yarns to create different pieces you can wear all year round.
Within the CORE 1 pattern alone, I have graded it to fit 12 sizes. I offer three different neck edges, three different sleeve length, which all had to be graded separately, and I show you where to make other modifications, such as yoke depth and body length. I’ve invested a lot of time and money creating this design, but that’s a topic for another time. If you use the system as intended, I think you will find it actually more affordable than purchasing each design separately at $12. Let me put by bookkeeper hat on and explain:
I am offering ebooks on Ravelry that include the CORE pattern and 2 of the MODs for $25. The CORE pattern costs $20 individually and each MOD costs $5. So right there you are getting one pattern free. If you paid $12 for each design it would cost you $36. Then if you purchased two more of the MODs, which would make the total $35, you would be saving $25 for the 5 patterns. 5 times $12 = $60 less $35 = $25.
And then you can save even more by using my ebook offer on Ravelry. Purchase 4 patterns and receive one for free. You can use the CORE ebook as one of the patterns (which is actually 3), then add 3 more at $12 and your total cost will be $49 for 6 designs. If you purchased those 6 designs at $12 each it would cost you $72. So you would be saving $23 - basically 2 patterns free.
My desire is to offer you timeless, modern designs that you will make your own, adjust to your desired fit, and use the MODs to add some color, texture and fun to your knitwear wardrobe, while making it affordable for you and also compensating me for my time, 50+ years of experience and financial investment.
