What Feeds Your Soul? - Guest post by Crystal Hiatt

I recently met Crystal on Instagram and we collaborated on her new shawl design Violet Duchess. She used Shel Designs Finito Fingering and Mohair Silk Lace held together. You can find yarn bundles for her shawl here. Crystal is an amazing designer and a dream to collaborate with. We are working on some fun things for you in the future. Here is Crystal’s post:

What brings me joy?

Oh! Where do I begin?!?  I live by the motto “Work Hard, Play Hard”.

And do I LOVE to play! (Full disclosure, I love working too…my job(s) is awesome and I have the most amazing people surrounding me).

My playground includes cooking, traveling, exploring a new town, knitting, painting, quilting, sewing, reading, embroidery, woodworking, cross-stitch, car racing, motorcycling…well the list is endless! I don’t want to bore you!

With many of these, I find I love most being creative and sharing those moments or finished pieces with others. It brings me so much joy to share with others. My playground would not be as fun without the people I have in my life. Those I hold dear to my heart, who I can share the ups and downs of life with, reach out to for anything, sit for hours in easy silence — those family and friends, they bring more joy to all the work and all the play!

And the latest addition to my world has made EVERYTHING joyful (even the frustrations during potty training)…my sweet Sophie! She fills my world with JOY the moment I wake up and all throughout my day. I am lucky to bring her everywhere and no matter the situation, Sophie is there with her sweet underbite smile, lots of puppy kisses, and ready to play and make me laugh at a moments notice.

Life is what we make of it. It’s not all unicorns and rainbows (and what fun would that be??)…but it’s full of beauty, love, hardship, challenges, and more. Where we find our joy through all the good and the not so good helps to shape us, build us, and make us wiser and stronger.

Joy comes to us in moments - ordinary moments. We risk missing out on joy when we get too busy chasing down the extraordinary. -Brene Brown

Keep finding your joy!

XO,

Crystal
