Shel Designs Hand-Painted Yarn Color Collections

So, I had an idea yesterday. As I was dyeing four brand new colorways, I realized that I LOVE experimenting and coming up with new colors. What if I mixed these two or three colors together? What colors do I need to mix in order to replicate Tourmaline’s hair? (That’s now Ibiza was created). I also realized that I can’t just keep adding new colors to my available options list. For me, having too many options to choose from can be really overwhelming, and I’m sure it can be for you as well. So here comes the new idea. I am going to offer seasonal, limited edition color collections throughout the year. I’m still working out the details and I’m sure there will be tweaks along the way, but here is what I’m thinking and how the first collection will work:

I’m going to offer four new colorways, one hand paint/variegated and three tonals that coordinate with the hand painted skein. I will offer all four as a bundle, or you can order individual colors, or mix and match. For this first one, I will be offering them on my brand new fingering weight base, (more details to follow, but you’re going to love this yarn), my mohair/silk lace and my other brand new suri/silk lace base (more on this one later also). The three tonals will be offered on the mohair/silk lace and suri/silk lace. I will be offering different bases at different times of the year, depending on the season and if there is a new design to go along with the color collection.

I’m working on a scarf design holding the fingering and either the mohair/silk or the suri/silk together. I will probably offer a kit for the pattern and yarn.

Preorders will be open for 1-2 weeks and once that time frame is over, those colorways will no longer be available, unless I decide to bring them back later or add them to my core color list, which I will be going through and paring down to a more manageable list.

My goal right now is to launch the first collection on July 27, 2023.

I am super excited about creating new color collections for you and have several in mind already. Also, I have four really exciting collaborations in the works, which will most likely include a new color collection.

I hope this will be something you‘ll be excited about too!

Happy knitting!
